If you like traveling and you have time to do this often, you might consider documenting your travel experiences. If you are looking to do this, there are two options at your disposal. You can write your impressions, experiences, and adventures on your blog, or make video recordings and post clips online.

In this post, I will talk about travel vlogging and give you several tips on how to do this properly. It might seem like an easy thing to do, but in order to make videos that are interesting to your target audience and make them stay to watch your clips; you need to know several things.

Here is some advice that can help you start your travel vlogging career properly with some additional practical tips that can help you get the right idea.

1. Edit your videos

One of the biggest mistakes people make is that they don’t edit the videos they’ve made during their travels. A lot of people think that those amazing videos some famous vloggers have are posted as they were, untouched. Trust me, they aren’t. They also use professional video editing services to cut up scenes which are not so good and improve the overall quality of the video.

Recognizing which moments should be left in the video and which ones should be cut out is very important. Additionally, they will use various filters and effects to make the color, motion, sound, and other important aspects of your video much better. There is no shame in doing this; everyone is doing it; even those famous vloggers.

2. Make interesting, short videos

It’s important that you control yourself and not get carried away. You are not making a full-length movie here, but video logs. People today don’t have a lot of patience to watch long videos, and if they see from the very start that the video is too long, they won’t click on your video, or they will shut it off immediately.

People usually suggest going for 3-minute videos and this might be good or bad, depending on how you do it. The important thing is that you always have something interesting in the scenes you shoot. For example, if you are trying new food, you should take 15 to 20 seconds to show the viewers, how it looks, and then film yourself enjoying the meal for just a bit.

Additionally, you can ask the cook to give you a short recipe for this meal. Nobody will watch you eat for 30 seconds, nobody cares; people want to see what they can try and not watch you enjoy it. If you are able to keep the dynamic constant and add informative shots while talking about something in between, you can make your videos last up to 3 minutes.

3. Make your shots stable

When recording your trips, make sure that the videos you make are pleasant to watch. First of all, it needs to be clear that you are filming so that people can actually understand the video. Secondly, people don’t need to get motion sickness from your videos and curse you until the end of their lives.

One of the most inexpensive ways is to either use a tripod or put your camera on a stationary surface and start recording right away. You can cut out the excessive footage in post-production. Practice filming with the camera in your hand and try to keep your hands as calm as possible. It’s possible to make quite decent videos this way as well.

If there is some shaking, it can be stabilized during video editing with various filters, but if there is a lot of motion, it won’t be stabilized completely. In the end, if you have money, you can buy a good camera stabilizer that will completely calm your shot.

4. Have an interesting story

Okay, so you will be traveling and be filming the places you visit. You can show people what interesting things to do, find, or eat there. However, there are probably hundreds of others who can provide people with that information. This is why you need to include yourself in your vlog posts.

Talking about the place is important, yes, but making a good vlog clip is also about you and your character as well. You need to be interesting to people and make the whole presentation more interesting than it really is. You need to show your personality and include your opinions as well.

As you travel from one place to another, you will talk about different things, but your character needs to progress. Show that you experienced all of those places through your point of view.

These are the absolute foundations for becoming a vlogger. You need to understand these things and build on them in order to become better. In the end, have fun and enjoy what you do. When you are relaxed, it will show on the screen and this can have a positive effect on your viewers.
